VAST’s Combustor is Cleaner Than Alternatives
The VAST® TriFluid Combustor™ achieves ultra-clean combustion by cooling with recycled water instead of excess air. VAST’s NOx (nitric oxides) and CO (carbon monoxide) emissions are ~10 times cleaner than today’s best gas turbines. VAST eliminates the costly exhaust gas treatment Capital Expense (CapEx) and Operating Expense (OpEx) that competitors need to reduce emissions to mandated levels.

Notes on Emissions Chart
VAST’s emissions at the combustor exit plane are an order of magnitude better than the best gas turbines widely deployed today. VAST’S best models were two orders of magnitude better. Commonly, single-cycle gas turbines generate NOx emissions of 15 ppmd (parts per million dry) @ 15% O2 dilution. VAST achieved below 1 ppmd for dozens of our models, while a few were around 1/10 ppmd. Solar Corporation’s gas turbines have reached 6 ppm in lab tests, and PSM’s FlameSheet™ technology can get to 3 ppm. VAST’s best models are more than an order of magnitude below even those levels and below those required by the Southern California Air Quality Control District – all without any post-combustion Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) or other type of catalytic cleanup.
VAST Helps Reach Real Zero with Ammonia
The VAST® Power Cycle is about 24% more efficient than the simple cycle gas turbines it replaces. VAST Power creates ~19% less CO2 than peaker turbines when using natural gas. When burning ammonia, VASTurbines release zero greenhouse gases and among the lowest NOx levels of commercial gas turbines.
